This 11-week course is friendly, supportive, and aimed at total beginners, or those wanting a refresher on basic techniques.
During the first session you will;
• Learn how to cut various types of glass accurately & safely using specialist glass cutters
• Be introduced to the two basic methods of assembly (lead and foil)
• Begin to make a simple, small “apprentice” piece
• You will be encouraged to think about the personal project you wish to make during the course. Some simple templates will be available if you would like some inspiration.
Teaching is a mixture of one-to-one plus demonstrations and discussions. You are encouraged to work at a speed which suits you, in a relaxed environment.
Equipment;
During the course you will have full use of the Stained-glass making equipment at Bedford Arts and Crafts Centre.
Course materials including glass and lead cane are not included in the course price and these can be bought from the tutor/in-house shop: The estimated cost of a panel A4 size is £30.
For the first session, please bring paper, pencils, rubbers and a ruler, plus a box for any cut glass. A cloth apron would be useful and please wear shoes that cover the toes! Safety glasses are available at the Centre.
Additional Information.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are available in the kitchen area, for a small charge.

Louise had her first taste of working with glass here at the Bedford Arts & Crafts centre, in a class just like this, under the expert tutelage of Norma Wall. She loved the experience so much that she returned year on year and now is looking forward to sharing what she has learned with others.

Lucie Camus is an accomplished stained-glass artist with a specialization in glass painting. She began her training in a prestigious Parisian stained-glass workshop where she worked on the restoration of the dome of the Galleries Lafayette in Paris. Later, she attended the Glass School of Paris to further develop her skills in glass painting. After completing her education, Lucie worked for several Parisian workshops for two years before moving to Bedford, England. Since then, she has been working as a painter for the renowned Reyntiens Glass Studio in London. Her skills and attention to detail have enabled her to work on high-profile projects such as creating stained-glass windows for the Claridge’s Hotel in London. With years of experience in the industry, Lucie is a passionate artist who is constantly exploring new techniques and ideas to create unique stained-glass works of art.
